The Evergreen Invitational is a premier event that brings the beauty, pageantry and amazing athleticism
of equestrian Grand Prix show jumping to the greater Chicagoland area. The equestrian Grand Prix
(meaning greatest or richest of prizes) has long been a fan favorite in Europe and is now gaining wide
popularity here in the U.S. Regarded as one of the most exciting events of the Olympic Games, Grand Prix
show jumping events are now seen from coast to coast! Proceeds from the Evergreen Invitational
benefit women's health programs at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
3RD ANNUAL EVERGREEN INVITATIONAL CANCELLED
SCHEDULING CONFLICTS CITED
Bristol, Wisconsin---The Evergreen Invitational Equestrian Grand Prix will not be held in September of 2009 as previously announced.
The decision was made when the U.S. Equestrian Federation, which determines the dates for sanctioned equestrian competitions, chose the Saturday of Labor Day weekend for the event.
“For obvious reasons, holding the Invitational on a holiday weekend is problematic.” said MK Pritzker, President of the Evergreen Invitational. “Both attendees and rider participation would suffer.”
She added that the current, very difficult economic climate has also created an unwelcoming environment in which to hold a charitable event.
Proceeds of the Evergreen Invitational support healthcare initiatives that benefit women in the greater Chicagoland area through Prentice Women’s Hospital of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Pritzker reported that, because of the previous success of both the 2007 and 2008 events, funds will be available to support women’s healthcare programs through 2009.
“The important work we fund through Prentice will continue uninterrupted,” she said.
Planning for the 2010 Evergreen Invitational, to be held on September 11th, is currently underway and will feature many of the most talented riders in the world today.
